IKEA’s Newest Superstore Opens Its Doors
BSE staff, including Principal, Andrew Fraser were honoured to be invited to attend the opening of the newest and largest IKEA store in Tempe located in Sydney’s south west in NSW.
IKEA Tempe which opened its doors on November 3rd 2011 has officially been awarded the title of the biggest IKEA in the Southern Hemisphere measuring an incredible 39,000m2 comprising of a 6,690m2 showroom, 6,690m2 market hall and a 12,860m2 warehouse, 1,680 parking spaces and a 760 seat restaurant.
With an estimated $135 million in construction costs, BSE provided technical expertise delivering mechanical, hydraulic, fire, vertical transportation and ecologically sustainable development (ESD) services for the Tempe superstore to meet the corporate requirements and community expectations which IKEA insist upon.
Thousands of eager IKEA lovers flocked to the Tempe store on Thursday to experience the opening, browse through the thousands of items in every size, shape and colour and participate in some of the fun and surprises that IKEA had in store such as the world’s largest meatball marathon, ABBA tribute band, live radio broadcast, quizzes, flat pack building competitions as well as prize giveaways and competitions.
