Location: Sydney Olympic Park, Sydney NSW

Project Summary
ANZ Stadium was built between 1996 and 1999, being completed in 1999 in time for the test events prior to the 2000 Olympic Games. The sports floodlighting was configured to primarily cater for international athletics and a crowd capacity of 105,000 and was designed in accordance with the requirements of the IAAF and the host broadcaster to provide even vertical illumination levels on all four planes (Symmetrical arrangements.) In 2001 – 2002 the venue undertook a change to revert to a football stadium, where the east and west lower bowl grandstands could be configured to suit rectangular mode football codes and Australian Rules Football. The sports lighting was reconfigured to suit with additional lighting in the main arch as Australian Rules is predominately an aerial game. Since then the stadium has also been host for interstate T20 cricket, culminating in being awarded International T20 Cricket for the 2011/ 2012 cricket season.
BSE team members who were the original designers of the stadium continued their involvement at the stadium by conducting a thorough audit and review of the existing floodlighting system, and make recommendations in order to ensure that ANZ Stadium remains a world class venue for televised sport.
