Project Summary
The IKEA stores are the first of their kind built in Australia and the design principles
have established the basis of all future developments These superstores are twice the
size of their predecessors to maximise economies of scale.
Features for reducing energy consumption include:
- Chilled beams and high temperature chilled water
- High efficiency water cooled chillers
- Overnight storage of chilled water (supplementary fire services tanks)
- Heat exchangers to recover heat from exhaust air to cool incoming air
- Pre-cooling of incoming air for all handling units operating on 100% outside air
- Photovoltaic feasibility and provisional services for future retrofit.
- Co-generation/Trigenerationfeasibility analysis on future developments
- Solar hot water for domestic supply
- Motion sensor controlled lighting to low occupation
