Overview

Delivering a Multi-Stage Aged Care and Living Community in Woolooware

The Woolooware Shores development for Anglicare provides a mix of independent living units, residential aged care, and community facilities within an established waterfront setting.

The project includes 42 independent living units, a 48-bed residential aged care facility, community spaces, car parking, upgraded infrastructure, and landscaped areas. Delivered adjacent to the existing Woolooware Shores Retirement Village, the development responds to growing demand while integrating with the existing community.

The project was delivered over three stages, requiring careful planning to support continued operation of existing and completed areas throughout construction while enabling future development across the site.

Our Role

Design Review and Multi-Disciplinary Delivery Across All Stages

BSE was initially engaged to undertake peer review of design and construct documentation. Throughout the project, the role expanded to include ongoing collaboration with the contractor team, providing additional input during construction and design finalisation.

Our team delivered technical services across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, fire protection, and vertical transportation systems.

A key aspect of the role involved coordination of services across multiple stages, including planning of infrastructure to support both current works and future development. This included provision of reticulation pathways to enable connection of future stages without impacting the operation of completed facilities.

Outcomes

Coordinated Infrastructure Supporting Long-Term Operation

BSE’s involvement supported the delivery of building services solutions across a staged and operational environment, requiring careful coordination between existing, new, and future infrastructure.

The works enabled continued operation of the facility throughout development, while supporting integration of new residential, aged care, and community spaces.

BSE was also involved in testing and commissioning activities, including integrated systems testing, ensuring the development was functional and ready for operation at completion.

The project contributes to the revitalisation of the site, delivering expanded facilities and a broader mix of community uses within the Woolooware Shores precinct.
