Overview
A New Aged Care Home for Blakehurst
Located alongside Todd Park and Carrs Park, Estia Health Blakehurst was developed as a five-storey aged care facility providing contemporary accommodation and lifestyle amenities within Sydney’s south.
The development comprises four levels of residential accommodation together with a range of shared resident facilities, including a hair salon, therapy and multipurpose spaces, a club lounge, wellness centre, outdoor activity areas, and a rooftop terrace.
Designed to provide a premium residential environment, the facility combines private accommodation with communal spaces that encourage residents to remain active, engaged, and connected to the broader community.

Our Role
Building Services Design for a Modern Aged Care Facility
BSE collaborated with Growthbuilt and Integrated Design to deliver engineering design and documentation for the project.
Our scope included mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fire protection engineering services across the five-storey development and basement car park.
Working as part of the wider consultant and project team, BSE supported the delivery of building services infrastructure designed to meet the operational requirements of a contemporary aged care environment while supporting the day-to-day needs of residents, visitors, and staff.

Outcomes
Supporting Resident Wellbeing and Independence
The completed development provides modern accommodation and community-focused facilities for up to 99 residents in the Blakehurst area.
A standout feature of the home is its onsite Wellness Centre, which offers physiotherapy and allied health services within the facility. The centre gives residents access to specialised equipment and programs designed to encourage mobility, independence, and ongoing physical wellbeing.
Resident Kevin York highlighted the impact of the Wellness Centre on his daily life:
“My goal was to regain fitness and not need my walker. I’ve been coming to the gym every day, using the specialist equipment, having my weekly physio classes and seeing the ladies in the Centre and my balance has improved and so has my walking.”
The quality of the development was recognised by the industry, with Estia Health Blakehurst named a finalist in the Development of the Year – Best Aged Care category at The Urban Developer Awards 2021.
BSE is proud to have contributed to the delivery of a facility that provides high-quality accommodation, care, and wellbeing services for residents, their families, and the wider community.
