Overview
Upgrades Across Operational and Heritage Facilities at HMAS Creswell
HMAS Creswell is a Royal Australian Navy training establishment located on the south-western shores of Jervis Bay in the Jervis Bay Territory. The base is home to the Royal Australian Naval College, supporting the training of Navy officers alongside specialist operational and support functions.
BSE is delivering upgrades at HMAS Creswell, supporting improvements to operational functionality, safety, and compliance across the naval base.
The works are being delivered within an active defence environment, requiring coordination to protect heritage fabric and existing in-ground infrastructure while maintaining ongoing operations.
Our Role
Building Services Design Across Multiple Defence Projects
BSE provided mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fire protection services across two key projects at the site.
Building 168 – Sound Range Building (EST08278)
The project involves demolition and reconstruction of the Sound Range Building, designed to meet current accessibility and building code requirements while preserving adjacent heritage elements and in-ground infrastructure. In addition to building services, BSE also provided sustainability (ESD) services as part of the project scope.
Building 113 – Administration Building (EST10710)
The works include refurbishment of the existing Administration Building and reconstruction of its brick extension, incorporating building services upgrades, enhanced security systems, Defence Secure Network (DSN) capability, and reconfigured office and amenity spaces, while retaining the heritage character of the facility.
Our role requires coordination across both projects, balancing heritage considerations, existing infrastructure constraints, and the operational requirements of an active defence site.
Outcomes
Upgraded Facilities Supporting Ongoing Defence Operations
The works will deliver upgraded facilities that support current operational requirements while maintaining the heritage character of the base.
Building services are being integrated across both refurbished and reconstructed elements, supporting consistent operation within a complex and constrained site environment.
The upgrades contribute to the ongoing functionality of HMAS Creswell, providing facilities aligned with contemporary standards while remaining responsive to the operational needs of the naval base.
