Overview
Transforming a Former Carpark into a Connected Community Green
Located just 50 metres from Lindfield Station, the former Tryon Road open carpark has been redeveloped into an open green space with landscaped lawn areas, serving as a vibrant meeting point for the Lindfield and wider Ku-ring-gai community.
The project introduces landscaped lawn areas designed to accommodate markets, performances, and local events, supported by pavilion structures and shaded gathering spaces. Two gazebos are incorporated into the design, one integrating fire stairs connected to the three-level basement carpark below.
The basement carpark provides a total of 241 parking spaces, including 105 dedicated to commuters and 136 available for public use, with electric vehicle charging provided across all levels. A pavilion housing a café, Olea Lindfield, integrates retail amenity within the broader precinct.

Our Role
Coordinated Engineering Across Public Domain and Basement Infrastructure
BSE partnered with DEM Architects to deliver electrical, mechanical, fire protection, hydraulic, vertical transportation, acoustic, communications, and lighting engineering design services, including security and street lighting.
Our role required coordination between the public domain works and the underlying basement carpark infrastructure, ensuring building services systems supported the operational requirements of both environments while integrating with the architectural design.

Outcomes
A Balanced Precinct Supporting Community Activation and Infrastructure Performance
The project delivers an integrated public domain and infrastructure outcome, providing accessible community space while maintaining essential parking provision beneath the site.
Through coordinated engineering, the precinct supports a range of uses including events, retail, and everyday community activity, while ensuring reliable operation of both basement and surface-level systems.
“This project delivers the best of both worlds, providing ample parking while transforming the surface level into a vibrant community space. It encourages people to use public transport, and we are proud that BSE has been able to contribute to a development that truly serves the Lindfield and wider Ku-ring-gai community.”

The integration of building services across the site enables a balanced outcome, supporting long-term functionality, accessibility, and ongoing community use.
The development also supports increased use of public transport through its proximity to Lindfield Station, reinforcing its role as a connected community hub.
