BSE provided mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and hydraulic engineering services design for HoMie Clothing’s second store at Emporium Melbourne. The work on this 180 sqm space, which had its VIP opening night on 29 October, was delivered pro bono through our partnership with the Property Industry Foundation (PIF).
HoMie is a Melbourne-based streetwear label and social enterprise. 100% of HoMie’s profits go towards supporting young people affected by homelessness or hardship. Since 2015, the organisation has supported more than 3,700 young people.
This store at Emporium will be home to their brand-new social impact program, Retail Ready. Retail Ready is a paid, supported 10-week work experience program for young people aged 18–25 affected by homelessness or hardship. The goal is to equip participants with the skills, experience, and opportunities to be work-ready and better prepared for their future.
HoMie Clothing’s CEO, Steph Say, said about the new store at Emporium Melbourne:
“At HoMie, we know we can’t combat youth homelessness alone. It takes an all-of-community approach – and this new store is no exception. This project exemplifies what HoMie is all about: a community coming together to back young people and create meaningful pathways out of homelessness.”
BSE is thrilled to have contributed to bringing this new location to life, enabling HoMie to continue its mission of supporting young people affected by homelessness or hardship.
Andrew Sayer, Director – VIC and BSE’s project lead, said:
“We are proud to support HoMie and the incredible impact they have in our community. Providing BSE’s services pro bono is just one way we can give back and help create opportunities for young people experiencing hardship. With 100% of the store’s profits going back to supporting HoMie’s work, this project will continue to deliver lasting value in assisting youth.”
