While we don’t get the day off like our friends in Melbourne, the Sydney team made the most of Melbourne Cup day with our own Calcutta auction and sweeps! 🏆🐎
The bidding was intense, with our auctioneer, Godfrey Frederick, doing a great job getting everyone to dig deep into their wallets. Gasps were heard as the favourites were snapped up at rapidly rising prices. Elham Alipanahi backed the right horse, taking first place with Half Yours. Ping Lu with Goodie Two Shoes and Angela Khadka with Middle Earth came in second and third respectively.
For the sweeps, it was Elham once again who won the $5 sweep, with Nicki Fraser taking the $2 sweep.
We also enjoyed a beautiful spread along with the traditional BSE fascinator and sock competition. 👒🧦 Congratulations to the best dressed, Layal Sadek and Evan Christidis, for winning this year’s competition!
