Earlier this month, BSE’s senior leadership team came together on the Gold Coast for this year’s Strategy & Leadership Retreat. Set in Sanctuary Cove, the three-day retreat brought a balance of focused planning, collaboration, and a healthy dose of BSE fun.
The retreat provides an important opportunity for our leaders to step back from day-to-day delivery and focus on the bigger picture. Across the sessions, the team explored short- and long-term priorities, aligned on key opportunities for growth, and worked through how we continue to strengthen the way our teams collaborate and deliver.
Through a mix of facilitated workshops, open discussions, and breakout sessions, leaders shared insights from across states and disciplines, identifying common themes, opportunities, and challenges across the business. These conversations helped shape BSE’s forward strategy, with a strong focus on clear priorities, accountability, and practical next steps.
Alongside the formal sessions, the retreat also made space for connection and creativity. Early morning yoga overlooking the marina offered a calm and energising start to one of the days, while team challenges throughout the retreat encouraged new ways of thinking and working together. There were also a few moments that may or may not have involved reenactments of Baywatch and Jurassic Park scenes. If only there were videos to share.
Across the retreat, a consistent theme was the strength of the BSE team and the value of collaboration, curiosity, and shared accountability in shaping the future of the business.
In reflecting on the retreat, CEO Andrew Fraser shared:
“It was a great few days with the team. Having all of BSE’s senior leadership together in one room, without distractions and fully engaged, made a real difference. These sessions are an important opportunity to step back, challenge our thinking, and align on where we are heading as a business. We have a strong group of leaders across BSE, and the level of engagement across the retreat really showed that. The outcomes give us a clear direction for the next few years, and plenty to be excited about as we continue to grow.”
