That's a wrap!

It’s A Wrap!

Wow… what a year! BSE excitedly reflects on the outstanding year all offices have experienced and we enter the new financial year with inspiring projects being delivered.

The growth of BSE has resulted in two office moves. Our Melbourne office has more than doubled in size prompting our move to Melbourne’s Docklands and our Brisbane office has continued its strong growth moving to a new office location on Edward Street.

The highlight of the year for Sydney’s interiors and refurbishments team was the Domain.com fitout and the building and infrastructure team finalised the Bunnings Geraldton photo-voltaic integration.

Looking forward, BSE’s teams have commenced design on a variety of exciting projects.

In Sydney, projects to be delivered such as, Kiama Aged Care, Centre of Excellence and Rural Fire Service New Headquarters are being designed with innovation front of mind.

BSE hosting a 'flipping' good cause.

Volunteers from BSE’s Sydney office recently heated up their frying pans and flipped pancakes for a good cause.

February 28th, marked Pancake Day, UnitingCare’s annual fundraising event that encourages people in their local communities to support those who are doing it tough by creating their own pancake-flipping event in their home, work, school or community. Celebrating Pancake Day is a further commitment from BSE management and staff to improving the lives of those less fortunate in our community.

“Pancake Day is always a fun day in the community, but there are serious issues that underpin it. BSE is proud to support the work of UnitingCare and encourage everyone to get involved” said local UnitingCare Pancake Day coordinator Jessica Sims.

The reality is that 1 in 7 Australians are living in poverty and as poverty levels rise across Australia, it’s important that communities pull together to support those around them who need it most. Now in its 16th year, UnitingCare Pancake Day aimed to raise $100,000.

Elizabeth Bay Marina has existed for over 100 years and is a popular place for boaters, kayakers, residents and tourists visiting the area.

BSE is delivering the engineering services in conjunction with RMS and APP to provide a modern marina facility for the wider community.

Secondary Schools Program Rollout

This is an urban renewal program focused on making our public high schools better places. Specifically, the program improves how high schools present to and address their local communities.

The Department of Education (DoE) has identified a selection of high schools to be a part of this program of works. BSE is working in conjunction with Boffa Robertson Architects and APP and will provide mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and fire engineering services for the project which is situated in the Kiama municipality and will be operated by Blue Haven Care.

A touch of sparkle for the latest Quality Standard

The International Standards Organisation has recently released the updated ISO9001 as the “most effective… and relevant” refresh, adding a touch of sparkle to the world of quality management! 3 years in the making, the updates are the of hundreds of industry stakeholders, labs, academia, researchers, government and NGO’s all committed to bringing 9001 into the present. A response to the significant changes in technology, business diversity and global commerce, the standard recognises the greater prevelance of the services sector and how they deliver quality outcomes to industry.

BSE’s Sydney office recently undertook our scheduled quality system re-certification, and undertook the extra work to bring systems up to date from ISO 9001:2008 to ISO 9001:2015.

While certification bodies will allow companies up to 3 years to bring systems in-line with newly released standards and maintain certification, BSE’s leadership team identified the benefits to clients, project partners and operations in advancing as soon as possible.

BSE’s quality team reviewed the ISO 9001:2015 standard with a fine tooth comb and updated the quality management system and documentation accordingly. An internal training program was developed and rolled out to all Sydney team members, embracing the new standard and detailing how everyone contributes to meeting commitments. All participants were deemed competent in the QMS training.

The quality team have a comprehensive internal audit program and training platform which made the updates deemed necessary smooth to roll out across the business.

Our team is confident that maintaining and embracing ISO 9001 certification will ensure we maintain our projects to the highest standard.
