Overview

Supporting Data Centre Expansion Across the Hume Campus

BSE supported Canberra Data Centres (CDC) across multiple facilities at the Hume campus, delivering engineering services for high-security data centre infrastructure.

Works included upgrades to existing facilities as well as the design of new data halls, offices, and supporting infrastructure, with continuity of operations maintained throughout.

Our Role

Engineering Delivery Across Upgrades and New Data Centre Facilities

BSE delivered engineering services across multiple facilities within the Hume campus, including:

  • Hume Campus One, Building 1 – Electrical engineering consultancy for upgrades to CDC’s original 21 MW data hall, enhancing resilience and reliability of a facility commissioned in 2007.
  • Hume Campus Two, Building 2 – Design and coordination of electrical services upgrades for a 25 MW critical infrastructure facility, supporting continued high-performance operation.
  • Hume Campus Two, Building 4 – Full mechanical, electrical, and fire protection design for a new $75 million, 15,000 square metre data centre designed to Tier IV standards, with staged construction to maintain live site operations.

Outcomes

Resilient and Scalable Infrastructure Supporting Ongoing Growth

BSE’s work supported Canberra Data Centres’ expansion and future growth, delivering upgrades and new facilities across the Hume campus.

The works provide highly resilient and scalable infrastructure across multiple buildings, accommodating increasing demand while maintaining continuous operation.

The program involved technically complex delivery within a high-security, live data centre environment, requiring staged construction and coordination across multiple active facilities.
