Overview
Expanding Domestic Terminal Parking Capacity at Brisbane Airport
The $90 million expansion of the P2 multi-storey carpark at Brisbane Airport’s Domestic Terminal was delivered to address increasing passenger demand and relieve pressure on existing parking facilities.
The six-level extension was integrated with the existing MLCP2 structure, delivering approximately 1,700 additional long-term parking bays, or around 300 bays per level, representing a 20% increase in overall capacity.
The project also included the installation of a large rooftop solar array, contributing to the airport’s renewable energy generation and supporting its broader sustainability objectives.
Our Role
Peer Review and Technical Assurance Across Building Services Systems
BSE provided peer review and subject matter expert (SME) services for the building services design, assessing electrical, communications, vertical transportation, mechanical, hydraulic, and fire protection systems.
Our role focused on verifying that the proposed design met operational, safety, and sustainability requirements, while aligning with the performance expectations of a high-use transport infrastructure environment.
Outcomes
Increased Capacity Supported by Reliable and Efficient Infrastructure
The expansion delivers a substantial increase in parking capacity, providing approximately 1,700 additional bays and improving access and convenience for passengers travelling through the Domestic Terminal.
Building services systems were reviewed and refined to support safe and reliable operation across the facility, ensuring performance under high-usage conditions typical of airport environments.
The integration of a rooftop solar array contributes to reduced operational energy demand, supporting Brisbane Airport’s renewable energy strategy while enhancing long-term asset performance.
