Overview

Delivering a Sustainable Early Learning Facility in Marrickville

Located within Steel Park in South Marrickville, the Yirran Gumal Early Learning Centre is a purpose-built childcare facility of approximately 1,175 square metres, providing 50 new places for local families.

The $5 million development incorporates a strong focus on sustainability, including solar water heating, high-efficiency air conditioning, quality LED lighting, and a small solar photovoltaic system. Together, these initiatives enable the centre to operate at an energy benchmark approximately 25% lower than typical childcare centres.

Our Role

Building Services Design for a New Childcare Facility

BSE delivered the design and documentation of electrical, mechanical, fire protection, and hydraulic services for the development.

Outcomes

Efficient Systems Supporting Reduced Energy Performance Benchmarks

The completed facility provides a comfortable and efficient early learning environment for the Marrickville community.

Building services systems were designed to support reduced energy consumption and reliable day-to-day operation, contributing to the centre achieving improved energy performance relative to standard childcare facilities.
