Overview
Sustainability-Led Hotel Operations in Melbourne’s CBD
Quincy Hotel Melbourne is a boutique hotel located in Melbourne’s CBD, forming part of TFE Hotels’ portfolio and supporting the group’s broader commitment to reducing operational carbon emissions.
As part of a board-led initiative to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, the hotel was selected as a pilot project to implement sustainability measures and formal certification pathways. The 241-room hotel includes a rooftop bar and restaurant, gym, and pool, providing a full-service hospitality offering.
Through this program, the hotel became one of the first international hotel brands in Victoria to achieve both NABERS and Climate Active – Carbon Neutral Certification.

Our Role
Building Performance Assessment and Sustainability Certification
BSE provided sustainability advisory services, including NABERS Energy and Water assessments and certification, along with Carbon Neutral assessment and certification under the Climate Active framework.
Our role involved reviewing operational performance of the building, including analysis of engineering systems and carbon emissions to identify opportunities for improvement. This included targeted HVAC audits, review of the existing VRF system, and development of recommendations to support improved performance and alignment with sustainability targets.

Outcomes
Certified Carbon-Neutral Operations in a Hospitality Setting
The project supported the achievement of NABERS ratings and Climate Active Carbon Neutral Certification, formalising the hotel’s operational sustainability performance.
Targeted assessment and optimisation of building systems contributed to improved efficiency and alignment with broader environmental objectives within the TFE Hotels portfolio.
BSE continues to support sustainability initiatives across the portfolio, identifying opportunities to improve energy performance and reduce operational emissions across multiple hotel assets.
