Overview
Supporting the Future of Rugby League in Western Sydney
The Penrith Panthers Rugby League Academy was developed as a dedicated training, development, and administration facility for the Penrith Panthers organisation.
Delivered as a $22 million project, the Academy building spans approximately 3,400 square metres within a broader 40,000 square metre site. The facility includes two full-size all-weather training fields, two gymnasiums, hot and cold plunge pools, a 61-seat team auditorium, medical rooms, and a range of recreational spaces for players and staff.
Designed to support both elite performance and player development, the Academy serves as the full-time training and development base for Penrith’s senior and junior squads while also accommodating the club’s rugby league administration.
Our Role
Multidisciplinary Engineering Design
BSE delivered mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, communications, and Section J engineering design services for the project.
Initially engaged by the Panthers Group, BSE supported the design phases of the development before being novated to Brookfield Multiplex to continue providing services during construction.
Working as part of the broader project team, BSE developed coordinated building services solutions to support the specialised requirements of a modern sporting and training environment, integrating services across training, fitness, medical, administration, and recreational spaces throughout the facility.
Outcomes
A Facility for Performance and Development
The completed facility now serves as the full-time training and development base for Penrith’s senior and junior squads while housing the club’s rugby league administration.
Beyond training and performance, the Academy provides facilities that support player wellbeing, education, and long-term development, creating an environment that caters to athletes at all stages of their rugby league journey.
“The Panthers Rugby League Academy is indicative of our steadfast commitment to Penrith and to the game of rugby league, now and into the future. It will become a source of inspiration for young rugby league players right across the Penrith district and regional areas. More kids than ever before will grow up dreaming of pulling on a Panthers jersey.”
– David O’Neill, Chairman, Penrith Panthers
BSE is proud to have contributed to a project that combines high-performance training facilities, workplace environments, and player wellbeing spaces within a single integrated development.
