Overview

Delivering a Robotics and Advanced Manufacturing Training Facility in Brisbane

The $47.7 million Robotics and Advanced Manufacturing Centre (RAMC) at TAFE Queensland’s Eagle Farm campus opened in June 2025, providing specialised training in robotics, hydrogen, renewable energy, electrotechnology, and advanced manufacturing.

The facility includes workshops, digital laboratories, classrooms, seminar and breakout areas, and staff and student amenities, supporting hands-on learning and collaboration. The centre is designed to support emerging technologies and evolving industry requirements within a contemporary training environment.

Our Role

Full Building Services Delivery for a Specialist Training Environment

BSE was appointed by the Queensland Government, through principal consultant Gray Puksand, to deliver building services engineering design across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, fire protection, lighting, communications, and audio-visual systems.

The project included specialist requirements such as a dedicated extraction system for the solder workshop, compressed air reticulation, and a bespoke external sewage pump station. The pump station was required due to site constraints preventing gravity connection to the sewer network and was designed to ensure reliable and compliant operation.

Our role involved integrating these systems to support the functional requirements of training spaces while ensuring safe and reliable operation across the facility.

Outcomes

A Flexible Learning Environment Supporting Emerging Industry Skills

The completed facility delivers a modern and flexible training environment, supporting students and educators across a range of emerging industries.

Building services systems were coordinated to support the safe and effective operation of workshops, laboratories, and learning spaces, enabling practical, hands-on training.

“With this new facility and the new courses it brings on offer at this campus, we are projecting for enrolment numbers to grow and for the most popular courses to shift focus towards emerging industries. This new facility will enhance the training availability in North Brisbane for crucial trade areas, while also supporting training into emerging industries including robotics and advanced manufacturing.”
— Stephen Gates, TAFE Queensland SkillsTech General Manager

The project contributes to expanding training capacity in advanced manufacturing and Industry 4.0 fields, supporting future workforce development.
