Overview
A New Workplace for OzChild
OzChild is one of Australia’s longest-serving charities supporting children, young people, and families. Founded in 1851, the organisation delivers evidence-based support through 23 programs across Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, and the Australian Capital Territory.
With more than 700 staff, carers, and volunteers supporting over 10,000 people each year, OzChild plays an important role in improving outcomes for children and young people in foster and kinship care while working to keep families together wherever possible.
Located at Level 4, 22 Kings Place in South Melbourne, the new workplace was designed to support OzChild’s ongoing operations while providing flexibility to accommodate future growth.
As an owner-occupier, OzChild sought a workplace that could evolve with the organisation, creating an environment focused on agile working and supported by integrated technology.

Our Role
Engineering Design for an Agile Workplace
BSE was engaged by BRM Projects to provide electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and fire protection engineering design services for the office fit-out.
A central feature of the fit-out is a multi-purpose boardroom with operable sliding doors, allowing the space to adapt to changing requirements. The workplace includes meeting rooms, a collaboration zone, a huddle space, an isolated nook, and a dedicated Zoom room, creating a range of environments for staff and visitors.
Flexibility was a key consideration throughout the design, with capacity for additional workstations as the organisation grows over the coming years.

Outcomes
Supporting Those Who Support the Community
The completed workplace provides OzChild with a flexible and future-focused environment aligned with the organisation’s operational needs and long-term vision.
Designed to accommodate agile working and future growth, the fit-out incorporates adaptable spaces that can evolve alongside the organisation over time.
The combination of collaborative spaces, meeting rooms, focused work areas, and integrated technology provides a workplace that can respond to changing operational requirements while supporting the people delivering OzChild’s services.
BSE is proud to have contributed to a workplace that supports the organisation’s mission and the communities it serves.
